Paranormal Research
The idea of paranomal research is to document in a scientific way those occurances which are "above normal" or supernatural. Most think of it as ghost hunting or spook stalking. However, it is far more than that. Many who are working the field of paranormal research are serious individuals attempting to define, label and produce empirical evidence of phenomena that is not so easily explained as just a scary ghost. Often those in paranormal research units find and prove that the abnormal phenomena has a perfectly normal cause. Certain scientific equipment is used to document the happenings. An EMF meter (electro-magnetic field meter) is used to monitor the electormagnetic fields at a site. If the EMF changes drastically when a phenomena occurs then it might be contributed to something moving into and out of the meter's sensing zone. A Thermal imaging camera can be used to film shifts in thermal energy waves during a research session. Recordings, done via either traditional tape recorders or the newer digital recorders, are reviewed to look for voice imprints called EVP's. (Electronic Voice Phenomena). Some these can be very clear and provide answers to some questions asked by the researchers. Some can be very blurry and unrecognizable as anything of value. Certain sensitive persons such as psychics and channels are included in some groups so that they can record what there impressions are as a comparative for those running the more scientific equipment. For example a psychic might get an impression in the master bedroom of an old home. he/she records this either via a notebook or on audio tape. This impression is later matched against the data collected by the non-sensitives with the scientfic equipment to see if there was any scientific flucuations to the EMF, the thermal energy or the back ground sounds of that same room. IF there is a match then it is considered a "happening". Paranormal research is taking the subjective and weighing it with the objective for finding a more definitive truth of the cause of "spooky" phenomena. Sometimes it is nothing more than an easily explained earthly occurance, but sometimes it defies such ready explanations.
